The Androids Do It With Madonna

The comparison is hard to miss. Lady Gaga seems to have picked up where Madonna left off with the cutting edge, utterly shocking approach to pop music, but a close examination of the two will reveal a definite separation of quality. Gaga's shock tips over the line to tasteless, where Madonna always knew exactly where the line was, so she managed to gain the respect of more than youthful pop fans hungry for something different.

Lady Gaga's long form video, “Alejandro” is such a nod to Madonna's “Vogue” that it almost seems like a rip-off. For some egotistical reason, the director had to flash his name before the title of the video. That's fine if it's an original piece, but it wasn't. He'd already been there with Madonna. Fashion and trendy music merge to create the latest high gloss culture shift in the increasingly shallow pop music world. In this case, Gaga's erotica is really just pornographic.
