Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep Synopsis

In the year 2019, the world will teeter along the edge of a knife. Society runs down the blade of its own destruction. The apocalypse has happened, or has it? Off-world colonies will provide Earth her natural resources long consumed and leaving in their wake a fiery industrial wasteland of Hades. On these other planets, replicants (androids) fill roles deemed undesirable as soldiers, miners, and prostitutes. Replicants are forbidden on Earth by punishment of their deaths to be carried out by Blade Runner units who "retire" them for a bounty. Most would not make it that far even if they tried; they are designed to perish after four years.

Roy Batty is one of these replicants. He has made it to Earth, but with a very short time to live.
